Master Communication Science

The Master's programme in Communication Science provides specialisation in a specific area of Communication Science. It prepares students for an academic career or a career in the information communication- and media sector, for which an academic degree is required.

In addition to scientific theories related to communication, a range of theories from other disciplines (such as psychology, sociology, philosophy, economy and law) will be covered. Because of its interdisciplinary nature, Communication Science applies a wide range of academic methods and techniques.

Bilingual programmes

The various tracks within the Master's programme in Communication Science are being offered in Dutch and/or English:

  • The Corporate Communication track is offered in Dutch
  • The Political Communication track  is in English
  • The Youth and Media track  is in English and Dutch
  • The Persuasive Communication track is in English and Dutch.

In addition to the one-year Master's programme in Communication Science, we also have a two-year Research Master's programme in Communication Science, which is being offered in English. The Research Master in Communication Science is particularly suited for students who want to advance in the field of scientific research.

Accreditation and title

The Master's programme in Communication Science is accredited by the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO). Upon completion of the Master's programme in Communication Science you will be awarded the legally certified Master's degree in Communication Science and the title Master of Science (MSc.).
